For authors

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

Manuscripts that meet submission guidelines are accepted for editorial review. All accepted articles undergo stylistic and technical editing.

The editor may correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, style, and citations, or request that the author make corrections.

The corrected manuscript and first layout are sent to the author for approval. The author has seven calendar days to respond. No reply means approval.

No further changes may be made after final approval.

CONDITIONS FOR PUBLICATION

Articles are submitted to the journal’s editorial office, registered, preliminarily checked for compliance with requirements, and forwarded for peer review.

Only original manuscripts prepared in accordance with the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science’s Order “On the Publication of Dissertation Results to Obtain the Scientific Degrees of Doctor and Candidate of Sciences” of 23 September 2019, No. 1220, and formatted according to the editorial board’s established manuscript requirements are accepted for publication.

To publish an article in Art of Justice, you should send it to the email address: redakcijaifup@gmail.com:

Files should be named by the surname of the first author with appropriate clarification. For example: Ilkiv_dovidka, Ilkiv_zghoda, Ilkiv_stattia.

Authors are personally responsible for the text of their articles and must:

  • provide only original manuscripts that have not been submitted elsewhere or published previously;
  • present truthful results of their research;

Manuscripts that violate established requirements are not admitted for further consideration, and their authors are notified.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MANUSCRIPT FORMATTING

  1. Articles are accepted in Ukrainian or English, with a maximum length of 4,000 words (some elements may be submitted in multiple languages).
  2. The article structure must include the following mandatory elements:
  • Statement of the problem in general, and its relation to important scientific or practical tasks.
  • Analysis of recent research and publications that initiated or address the resolution of the given problem, and which the author relies on.
  • Identification of parts of the general problem that have not been resolved previously, which the article focuses on.
  • Formulation of the article’s aim (statement of the task).
  • Presentation of the main research material with full justification of the scientific results obtained.
  • Conclusions drawn from the research.
  • Prospects for further scientific investigations on the topic.
  1. The main structural elements of the article should be arranged in the following order:
  • Line 1 – UDC index (left aligned)
  • Line 2 – Author’s surname and first name (in the nominative case, bold)
  • Line 3 – Position, workplace of the author (without abbreviations), academic degree, academic title, city, country, ORCID number, email address — if there are multiple authors, the details for each are on separate lines (italic font, right aligned)
  • Line 4 – blank line
  • Line 5 – Article title, which must reflect its content and contain no more than 10 words (centered, all letters uppercase, bold font)
  • Line 6 – blank line
  • Line 7 (italic font, 14 pt, justified alignment, with paragraph indent) – Abstract in Ukrainian of at least 1,800 printed characters: must be descriptive, reflect the aim of the work, characterize the article’s problematic issue, its results and conclusions. The abstract should be concise, precise, informative, and structured; it may not contain references or abbreviations, nor duplicate parts of the article.
  • Keywords (italic, 14 pt, justified, with paragraph indent) – words from the article text that carry semantic weight for information retrieval; given in nominative case, printed in a row separated by commas; total number between 3 and 10.
  • Main body of the article
  • Subtitle “Список використаних джерел” (“List of Used Sources”) – formed in the order sources are mentioned in the text (bold font, centered alignment)
  • Subtitle “References” (if article is written in Ukrainian) – includes English translation and transliteration of the list of sources formatted according to APA style (see Appendix 4) (bold font, centered alignment)
  • Abstract in English (if the article is submitted in English: at the beginning provide author info, title, English abstract, and at the end of the article – Ukrainian abstract) of at least 1,800 printed characters (italic font, right-aligned) – shows author’s name, article title (centered, uppercase, bold font); the abstract text (italic, 14 pt, justified, with paragraph indent); keywords (italic, 14 pt, justified, with paragraph indent).
  1. Articles are published in the original language. The electronic version of the article is submitted either on an electronic medium or sent to the editorial email address.
  2. The article must be formatted using text editors such as Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect (Font: Times New Roman, size 14; line spacing 1.5), and saved in .doc or .docx Margins: 2 cm. Pages must not be numbered. Paragraph indent: 1.25 cm.

When formatting, it is forbidden to use hyphenation or extra spaces. One must clearly distinguish between an en‑dash (–) and a hyphen (-). Using tabulations or multiple spaces to indent paragraphs, compressing or expanding spacing between letters, extra spacing between words beyond one space are all unacceptable.

  1. The article text must be carefully proof‑read; free of orthographic, punctuation, and stylistic errors. The article may include graphical materials, figures, tables, formulas.

Figures and graphics should be inserted in one of the following formats: *.emf, *.wmf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, .png, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Captions on figures should use the font type and size of the main text. Figures are captioned and numbered (if more than one) above the figure, centered. All objects in simple figures created in Word must be grouped. The article text must be formatted so that all objects are set to “in‑text” placement. Complex or layered figures are recommended to be made using specialized graphic editors.

Tables are submitted as stand‑alone objects in Word, sized to fit the page layout. Table titles are centered. Table numbering (if more than one) is aligned right.

Formulas must be created using Microsoft Equation 3.0 (or 4.0), centered in line with the text, and numbered in parentheses at the right margin. Font settings: normal text 14 pt; large superscript/subscript 9 pt; small superscript/subscript 6 pt; large symbols 14 pt; small symbols 10 pt.

  1. The exposition of the article must be consistent, logically complete, with clear phrasing that avoids ambiguity or misunderstanding. Language should be expressive, concise, and conform to literary norms.
The author must ensure scientific value of the material, completeness in addressing the issue, systematic presentation, accuracy of results and data, correctness in use of literature sources.
The impersonal (passive) form of verbs is used, except when referring to prior works.
  2. In formatting the bibliography list, authors must follow the Ukrainian National Standard DSTU 8302:2015 "Information and Documentation. Bibliographic Reference. General Provisions and Rules for Compiling". Internet links in the text must include full correct URLs.

When preparing the article, authors are recommended to use works by both domestic and foreign authors, and to avoid over-reliance on textbooks or outdated literature. Sources cited must correspond to the topic, be current, and reflect the researcher’s awareness of recent developments in the scientific field.

Self‑citation must not exceed 20% of the total number of items in the list of references.

If the article to which the reference links has a digital identifier DOI (http://doi.org/index.html), it must be indicated.

References to sources published in the territory of the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus, in the language of the aggressor country, or by authors from the Russian Federation (unless justified) are not permitted.

  1. The References section must include, for each transliterated source, in square brackets the English translation of the most significant fragments of the bibliographic description (title of work, journal or periodical title, legal normative source, etc.). At the end of each bibliographic entry, in square brackets, the language in which it was originally published must be stated – e.g. [in Ukrainian]. If the source has a DOI, it must be included in the References (at the end), as it is the most precise identifier.
  2. In‑text references should be formatted in APA style, which means:
  • Author’s surname (or surnames) in the order listed in the publication, then a comma, then year of publication.
  • Page numbers or paragraph numbers for direct quotations or paraphrase, where appropriate.
  • The citation is given in parentheses immediately after the quoted fragment.
  • The author’s surname must be present either in the text or in parentheses. If in parentheses, also include year and, if needed, page numbers.
  • When citing a secondary source, indicate the secondary reference: for example, Smith (as cited in Jones, 2010).

Examples of in‑text citations:

  • One author: (Ilchenko, 2024)
  • Two authors: (Ilchenko, Prokopenko, 2022)
  • Three authors: (Ilchenko, Prokopenko, Antonenko, 2019)
  • More than three authors: list only the first author, e.g. (Ilchenko et al., 2025)

If the author(s) is mentioned in the text, the citation format is:

  • According to O. Ilchenko (2024), theft is considered committed again if …
  • Or: In 2024 P. Prokopenko argued that …

If a direct quotation is used, the page number must be included:

  • Example: In literature, theft is considered … (Ilchenko et al., 2025, p. 98).
  • Or: According to P. Antonenko (2019, p. 54), theft is …

If a source has no author, cite by title:

  • Legal Aspects of Social Protection, 2023, pp. 14–16

Normative legal acts appear in footnotes at the bottom of the page and are not included in the References list. Footnote markers are numbered consistently within one work. Numbers are placed immediately after the word without space before the number.

All the sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the References list.

It is recommended to prefer indirect (paraphrased) citations rather than direct quotations.
